Here are the top rated humane mole repellents for 2021
Well, it's been a long year or two, but gardening still goes on, and so do the presence of moles!
Whether you've just taken up gardening during our year of Covid, or have been a gardener this whole time, I've made a list for you of the top 7 rated mole repellers and stakes for 2020 and 2021. XMStore topped the list last time I blogged about this, let's see how it has changed. As before, I rank these in order of highest stars first.
Runadi Mole Repellent Currently, the 4 pack of this mole stake is the top ranked one. There are reviews not related to the product--for blue tit next boxes!--but some are for the mole repellent. Other reviews for the 2 pack of the product give more details, and most assert that it is effective. The sellers say it can take up to two weeks for animals to leave the premises.
Nikand Solar Mole Repellent Though this product received fewer purchases, it certainly seems to be for only mole repellents. In fact, this brand has far more engagement on their Amazon page, detailed pictures, video, diagrams, etc. Also, unlike some mole repellents, there is an off/on switch. Many state that it works fine, some negative reviews state that the product is loud, though that is the purpose of these products--the sound/vibration keeps the burrowing mammals away.
Toro Solar Powered Mole Repellents This mole repellent was featured as number two in my last overview of highest rated mole repellents. This year, it goes down to number three. It still receives fairly high ratings, though some reviewers posted videos and pictures saying it does not work, though the images are only for snakes, not moles specifically.
Victor M9012 Sonic Mole Spike These mole stakes are not solar-powered. This is not inherently a bad thing--if you live in a cloudy or rainy area such as the Pacific Northwest, using regular batteries can be a more practical option than relying on the fickle sun. Of all the brands on here, Victor is the most well known in pest control, and you may be more likely to find these at your local Home Depot or Lowe's unlike other brands. They require 3 "D" batteries.
Taaha Solar Mole Repellent This is a new mole repeller on the scene, and has less reviews than other stakes used to humanely repel moles. It offers much the same as other mole stakes--solar powered, lifetime warranty. I could not help but notice misspellings in the graphics and the picture of a mole is actually a beaver. The few ratings either says it does not work, or that it does. None specifically mention moles, only groundhogs.
Apello Mole Repellers This one is still on the list. It's reviews are mixed, but most rate it highly and don't seem to leave written reviews. The same mispellings are there on the page, but since I wrote of them last time, they've only acquired more reviews over time, and mostly positive in terms of star rating.
Vanzo Ultrasonic Mole Repellent And last on our list is another newcomer to the list. Vanzo mole stakes work about the same as all the other solar powered mole repellents. It can take up to a few days to work, and it's advised to put it in harder soil, not loamy soil. I find this interesting, as moles prefer loamy soil. Granted, I've seen Eastern moles in clay, where I don't think they have too much of a choice, but one would think you'd want to put the stakes in the soil they prefer, the soil where they choose to live.
So as you can see, though there are about 8 highly rated mole repellent stakes on Amazon this spring, only about numbers 2 to 7 may be regarded as trustworthy. Not sure enough about number 6.
My conclusions? Thus far the TRUE highest rated solar powered mole repellent stake for 21 is Nikand.
